Kusimika Chatterjee is a world renowned storyteller, drama teacher, language teacher and a wonderful human being. We the teachers of Helen O Grady had the privilege of spending a whole day in her presence. She took us through a world of stories and poetry and dance and drama all interwoven with her special ability to make what may seem ordinary come out brilliantly alive.
Mrs Chatterjee is in her early 70s and lives in England. After working in one local Coventry comprehensive school for over three decades, she started to work for schools throughout the region ranging from special needs schools to mainstream schools using the art of storytelling to help educate children about different cultures. Educators from all over are often astounded by her ability to transfix children from all backgrounds with her educational stories.
She is an inspiration just to be with. And when she emotes, it is nothing less than pure magic to see her weave her splendid 'abhinaya' into her work as a teacher of language and grammar! I did not know grammar and language too can have stories. They do, and you must see her to believe it!
We've all been truly inspired by her infectious enthusiasm and by what she does even at her age. We hope to keep going on with gusto with that impetus for as long as we can move!
